Which Hosting Account Do I Need?
May 12th, 2009
Great question! I personally host many sites with GoDaddy. They’re set up for the novice web user and make it easy for more advanced users to access many of the advanced features they are looking for. The customer service is extremely helpful and ready and willing to answer all of our “dumb questions”. I call customer service on a regular basis and I’m rarely on hold for more than a minute or two. Hey, I’ve got a lot of “dumb questions”. There’s no shame in it. The internet is constantly changing and we all need help sometimes.
So, what kind of plan do you need. GoDaddy has a free hosting account but if you use it, you’ll have GoDaddy banners at the top of your website. If you don’t mind advertising for GoDaddy, just buy and domain and you’ve got free place to host it. If you need something a little more professional, I recommend upgrading to the most basic shared hosting service they offer. Then, as you go along, if you find you need something more, you can seamlessly upgrade.
GoDaddy lets you choose between Linux and Windows servers where you choose your hosting account. If you’re wondering, “Should I choose Linux or Windows?” I recommend Linux as do many other internet marketers. Why? Well, that’ll be another post. You can get your hosting account and domains Here at www.godaddy.com.
